Touting or placing an high emphasis on ones camera gear isn't a real benefit to the photography process. The important issue is for the photographer to know what equipment is necessary to meet the technical requirements of the project, and make sure this equipment is available.

I don't know any photographer who owns every piece of camera gear made, but most professionals do have a good base level of high quality gear and the knowledge to use it. If additional gear is necessary it can ether be purchased or rented.

The emphasis should be on producing images that meet or exceed the clients needs, within the budget and time frame specified.
